CELEBRATING in 2016   Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary.

Guyana’s flag, also known as THE GOLDEN ARROWHEAD, has 5 symbolic colors:

Flag
GREEN – represents the agricultural and natural rain-forests of Guyana
WHITE – represents the rivers and waters of the country
GOLD – represents the mineral wealth of the country
BLACK – represents the endurance of the Guyanese people
RED – represents the zeal and dynamism of Guyanese people
CoatOfArmsTransparent The Amerindian style head-dress symbolizes the Amerindians, Guyana’s indigenous people. The two diamonds in the head dress symbolize the country’s mining industry.The helmet is the monarchy insignia. Two jaguars – one with a pick-axe, the other with a sugar cane and a stalk of rice, symbolize labor and the two main agricultural industries of Guyana. The protective shield is decorated with the national flower – the Victoria Amazonia Lily. The three blue wavy lines represent the many waters of Guyana.  The Canje Pheasant, a rare bird is found mainly in this part of the world. The banner carries Guyana’s motto:

ONE PEOPLE. ONE NATION. ONE DESTINY.
